Add People
Research says talking to people you know is the most effective way to create change. Empower will guide you to make a list of people you know and reach out to them about the issues that matter to you. This helps you leverage the power of your personal relationships to make change and to use a trusted messenger for your message - you! This article will show you how to add people you know to Empower so you can easily reach out to them through the app. These contacts are to help you build your list of people to reach out to - if you like, you can use nicknames for privacy.
Add people directly from your smartphone contacts
From the Empower App in your smartphone, click on the My Network button on the bottom right of your screen.
Then click on the Add Person button.
You can search through your phone’s contacts and select anyone that you would like to add as a contact for your relational organizing campaign. When you find the person that you would like to add, select the button to the left of their name and then click Add.
Add people manually
From the Empower App in your smartphone, click on the My Network button on the bottom right of your screen.
Then click on the Add Person button.
Change the selection from Contacts to Manually, by clicking on the Manually button on the top of your screen.
You can now enter information for your new contact. The only required information for a new contact is under the name field, but you can use a nickname here if you prefer.
Click the Add button on the bottom of your screen to add as a new contact.
Adding people during a call to action
- You can also add contacts as you are completing a relational call to action. This is a great way to add new contacts that you meet as you are completing a call to action and answer questions about them at the same time. Open the Empower mobile app and click on the Reach out button for your call to action.
- Get additional background information on the call to action by reading the content page. You will also see some tips and tricks to have an effective relational organizing conversation. Click the Next button once you’ve finished reading these pages.
- On the page with your existing contacts, you will see an Add Person button at the bottom of the page. You can add new contacts here as you’re completing your relational call to action. Click on this button.
- When you add a contact through a relational call to action, you will be able to add the new contact’s information and then also add their responses to the call to action. Click the Add 1 person button to add a new contact.
Adding contacts is the first step to having conversations that matter in Empower.
