Editing Your Organization Settings

Editing Your Organization Settings

During your introductory demo, your Empower Staff Trainer will help create your Organization’s Page and settings. Once your page is created, you may start adding your network and drafting out calls to action for your Organizers and Volunteers. Your page has a unique and customizable link for inviting new Volunteers.  This article will first walk you through editing your organization page.

Editing your Organization Settings

  1. Directors will be able to access their Organization Page by clicking Organization, on the left hand side of Empower Web App.

  1. From there, select Edit under Organization Settings.

  1. Under Edit Organization you can:

Update Organization Name

  1. Change the name of your organization by updating the Organization Name box. We recommend using a name that you use when you talk about your work. You don’t have to use the organization’s legal name.

  1. You can update the Organization Invite Link. This is the general link that you can send to new volunteers to add them to your organization. Remember, you can send specific invite links if you want to assign new volunteers to specific regions or to specific organizers. Check out our article on Using Invite Links to learn more about the different types of invite links.

Coordination Status

  1. You can select whether you are an Independent Expenditure organizing program or a Candidate organizing program.

Changing Title of Organizer and Volunteer

  1. You can change the names of Organizers (in the Organizer Noun box) and Volunteers (in the Leader Noun box). We recommend using nouns in the singular form and keeping the new titles short.

Update your State

  1. Add your state in the State box.

  1. Upload your logo by clicking Choose Image File next to Logo. Once you upload your organization's logo, it will not appear on the Empower App. Your logo will appear on the invitations that you send to new volunteers when they join Empower.

Select the "From" Email for the Organization

  1. Select the email that you want all of your organization’s mass messages to be sent from by including the email in the From Email box.

Mass Text Messages

  1. To enable mass text messages, you will first need to register your organization with the mobile carriers by clicking Register and then filling out the form. Once you have submitted your registration for text messages, mass text messages will be enabled by default, but you can turn mass messages off or on at any time by selecting the box next to Mass Text Messages. If you turn the Mass Text Messages on, then you can select the area code by filling in the Desired Area Code box. Once a phone number has been assigned for your organization, this area can no longer be changed. If you want to learn more about how to send mass messages, check out our article Mass Messages.

Search Visibility

  1. You can control whether or not your organization appears in search. If you would like Volunteers to be able to discover and join your organization, including those who do not know your organization's invite code, select Allow Discovery. If you’d like to ensure that only people with an invite code can join your organization, select Hide from Search.

Organizer Follow Up

  1. Choose between two options for organizer follow up. Tasks requires no set up and provides preset lists for organizers to contact, such as new Volunteers who need coaching, scheduled follow ups, celebrating Volunteers for their progress, and following up with Volunteers about calls to action. Organizations that would like more control over their outreach lists can instead create calls to action for their Organizers to reach out to their Volunteers which can include custom instructions and target specific Organizers and/or Volunteers, but these must be created manually.

Worksheet Email

  1. Under Worksheet Email, you can include an email address that will receive volunteer information when it is submitted in the form of a photo of a physical worksheet.

List Size Goal

  1. Enter the number of people that you would like as a goal for Volunteers to add to their list. Volunteers will be encouraged to add at least this many people to their list.

Assigned Empower Trainer

  1. In the Assigned Empower Trainer box, you should see the name of the Empower Trainer who is assigned to your organization. It’s very likely that this is the trainer who completed your introductory demo.

Updating your Organization Settings will help provide the most accurate information to your volunteers - allowing them to focus on building relationships and leading change across the community.
